"We Love to Spoil Our Guests"

This 18th Century Historic Inn has been serving up
warm
hospitality and scrumptious breakfasts on the sunporch
overlooking Penobscot Bay for over 80 years. We invite
you to experience the finest accommodations on the
midcoast
of Maine, where the sunrises are spectacular over the
glistening,
clear waters of Penobscot Bay. Upon entering our bed and
breakfast, once owned by General Henry Know, George
Washington's first Secretary of War, you'll be captured by
the
spirit of a bygone era as well as charmed by the ample
cozy
rooms, antique furnishings, paneled ceilings, pumpkin
pine
floors, and the most breathtaking view of Penobscot Bay
afforded this area. This early American home became
well-known
in the early 20th century as the College Club Inn
hosting
Presidential wives with Eleanor Roosevelt and her
entourage
making frequent visits. To this end, we feature the fan of
Mary
Todd Lincoln in the 2nd floor hall.

We take great pleasure in offering our guests
superior
accommodations and services that include extra
complements
such as: king size beds; private baths, handmade goat's
milk
soap, turndown service, many in-room accouterments, plus
afternoon and evening hot/cold refreshments. In the
summer - cool ocean air is circulated thru your room by
dual
window fans. In the winter - you'll cuddle up under
velvety
blankets and big, fluffy sheep's wool comforters.

Every morning you'll awaken to a sweet and savory
4
course breakfast exquisitely prepared and served on
our lovely, wicker furnished sunporch overlooking our
bird
sanctuary and Penobscot Bay with all the splendor
of ships, large and small. Our fare includes a variety
of
succulent native berries, a tea bar and hot chocolate
bar,
and Maine's own delightful coffees.

Rave reviews from "Maine, An Explorers Guide" by
Christina Tree and Elizabeth Roundy; "Almost too good to
be
true and we are afraid it may not last. This is a bright
house
with a 60 foot long, 19 windowed, wicker and flower filled
sun
porch overlooking fields stretching to the bay.
Nancy-Linn Elliott is a warm host...."
